The Firewire Seaside & Beyond is the latest drool-inducing magic stick from Rob Machado and the Firewire team. Rob had been interested in a 'long fish' since spending time with Skip Frye who showed him some of his fishes in the 7ft range. Rob's first foray into the' long-fish' was a stretched out Go Fish which worked but needed something extra, but his interest was definitely spiked. His next step was to give the incredibly popular Seaside quad-fish the same treatment; stretching it out and fine-tuning the rocker. The Seaside & Beyond was born and very quickly became the board Rob never left home without. Rob has been riding his Seaside in pretty much anything from 1 foot beach breaks to barrelling reefs and all ports in-between. The Seaside & beyond comes in just 3 sizes, 6'8, 7'0 and 7'4 with a traditional single to double concave and either Futures or FCS II fin plugs. Linear Flex Technology (LFT) replaces the Rapidfire internal carbon rods with an 18mm wide composite Springer HD Suspension System that runs from nose to tail and includes a top-deck sheet to improve compression resistance. This high density insert creates additional strength through the centre with increased flex through the tail. The EPS top sheet buffer above the HD Springer allows for some compression but without the raised ridge and cracking that can occur with traditional wooden stringer surfboards. LFT delivers plenty of 'TWANG' in and out of your turns and creates the fast-twitch flex response that gives the surfer the feedback and return desired.
