Video #0005 - Today’s ride took me to the U Thong National Museum in Suphan Buri province — a place that preserves some of the earliest chapters of central Thailand’s history. At over 270 km there and back, and close to five hours in the saddle, this was my longest ride so far. The biggest challenge yet. For the first time, distance began to feel more natural. Not easy — the mid-day heat was intense — but manageable. Planning stops, pacing the ride, staying hydrated. Slowly understanding the rhythm between time, road, and body. The museum itself looks modest from the outside, but inside it is beautifully curated. Thoughtful lighting, strong audio-visual presentations, and carefully displayed artifacts give each object space to speak. For anyone interested in Thailand’s early past, this is one of the most compelling historical museums in the country — and well worth the ride from Bangkok. The story centers on the Dvaravati civilization. The objects presented here suggest not an isolated culture, but a crossroads — where belief systems, artistic traditions, and trade routes converged. U Thong reminds us that long before modern borders, this region was already deeply connected to a wider world. #OverlandFiftyOne #IterHumanum #BangkokToAddis #OverlandJourney #OnTheRoad #SlowTravel #TheRoadGoesOnandOn #honda #crf300rally Ask
