Advanced Scuba Buoyancy Control - Lung Power! (Scuba Tips and Tricks) This video is intended for beginner or advanced scuba divers and instructs how to vastly improve scuba buoyancy control through effective use of the lungs. The video gives concrete pointers on how to use the lungs for buoyancy fine-tuning, while leaving more rough buoyancy adjustments to the scuba BC. Chapters 00:00 Intro 00:40 Descending on the dive 01:35 Rough vs. Fine buoyancy adjustment (BC vs Lungs) 02:11 Upward Temporary depth change during a dive 04:12 Downward temporary depth changes during a dive 06:07 Lung assist during SBM Launch at the end of a dive Epilog BG Photo – Thanks to Sean C. for this photo. A bit of BG on it. In the summer months, there is a warm current that moves to hit the East of Japan, called the Black Current, or Kuroshiro in Japanese. The schooling scalloped Hammerheads follow these currents to locations like Yonaguni, Mikomoto Island and Oshima Island. At Oshima Island, this phenomenon is particularly noteworthy as it brings schools of hammerheads to within 50 meters of shore in as little as 6-10 meters of water. Unbelievable compared to other locations where you need to go deep and/or into heavy current and thus have very limited waiting/viewing time due to NDL. Oshima is certainly not guaranteed, but so far, I have 80% hammer viewing success rate at the right time of year and day (Summer months, sunrise dive). I hope to expand dives to this location from 2021 as this is such a stellar experience. This is where the photo above was taken in 2020, at around 9 meters. Safe diving!
