Gorillaz - Fresh Arrivals (Fan Recreation) or Damascus taken from Gorillaz The Mountain, and Visualizer As many of you know, I'm not the biggest fan of Damascus (in fact, it's a song that didn't really win me over until recently), but contrary to what you might think, it's thanks to this that, since the release of the Gorillaz single Damascus in December 2024, I've been working on a completely new version of the song. Unfortunately, my songwriting skills haven't been the best, and that's why I haven't been able to finish it. But at the beginning of 2026, using some elements from my Damascus Rework, I decided to create an edit of what Damascus would have sounded like on Plastic Beach (or as it was known then, Fresh Arrivals), drawing heavily on the Gorillaz Cooper Box 2025 live performance (the first glimpse of Fresh Arrivals). This version features a longer duration, a wider variety of percussion, and classic synth accompaniments from the Plastic Beach era, recreated with Synth Surge and the Reaper 64x DAW.
