Safe & Secure Motorist Service Station in Akrata

http://www.olympiaodos.gr Olympia Odos has created a new heavy-vehicle parking area at the Motorist Service Station in Akrata, located 70 km from the port of Patras and 156 km from Athens. This initiative improves the safety and comfort of heavy-vehicle drivers and enhances the efficiency of freight transport in Greece. By connecting two major international cargo hubs, the ports of Patras and Piraeus, Olympia Odos accommodated more than 7.8 million heavy vehicles in 2024, recording a 3.7% increase compared to 2022. The construction of this new service area is the result of cooperation between Olympia Odos and the European Union through the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) and the "Connecting Europe" Facility mechanism. The total investment amounts to €2.5 million. The new service area meets high environmental standards, including an energy-efficient Class A building, heating and cooling networks, and hot-water production using solar energy for the sanitary facilities. In the coming months, Olympia Odos will continue to enhance the area by adding new services, such as equipment to accommodate refrigerated trucks and a mobile app for reserving parking spaces via smartphone.
