In 1994, the Storm King Fire near Glenwood Springs, Colorado killed 14 firefighters who were overtaken by an explosion of flames. The casualties include nine members of the Prineville Hotshots, who were sent from Oregon to help fight the wildfire that later was known as the South Canyon Fire.
