Hiking Upper Vorarlberg! It is the beautiful westernmost region of Austria. A land of spectacularly shaped mountains and an enchanting sense of calmness. You must know this friends, the scale of beauty Vorarlberg has to offer is simply immense! Vorarlberg is the westernmost region of Austria and I have been wanting to explore beyond the areas I have been to already for so long. I began the journey on the 6th of October in Reute, Hohenems. On the first day, I camped out near the Hoher Freschen peak at 1800m under a beautiful starry sky that simply demanded no tent. On the second day I hiked up to Hoher Freschen, and boy was that the point I realized how important weight is when hiking/climbing steep terrain. It is quite crucial to consider weight and the ability to maneuver in tight, exposed parts of the mountain. well, I learned the importance of weight in a hard fashion. I spent the rest of day 2 hiking down to Mellau. Day 3 was foggy and moody, but I loved it. perfect weather for the hike through the forests near Bizau. fell into a dazy flow. I eventually got to and camped near Schönenbach. Day 4 was another challenge to hike up 1100m and find myself (unrecorded) in situations of tight exposed spaces. Did not like it, but loved the views I found myself in. Eventually reached a peak in Germany called Hahnenköpfle (2100m). At this point I realized the importance of perhaps carrying an action camera along, as when the going gets tough, I simply find it too risky or for lack of energy and patience to lay a camera and tripod down to walk back to. Day 5 was nice to hike from Klein Walsertal, over to widdersteinhütte, and down to Köbelesee. Day 6 brought me to Körbersee, where I found it hard to leave after feeling just utterly relaxed and grounded like a tree. The lake and the energy surrounding the area were just something special! Day 7 was tiring hiking from biberacherhütte to Gamsboden, where I had the honor to meet some pretty chilled-out Ibexes pondering over my long walk back to pick up my camera. I followed the trail down to the Lechtal River and set up a fire and camped. Day 8 was foggy and rainy. It was the longest hike of all (22km) but not the hardest as I only had 450m in ascension for the entire day. I hiked up to Formarinsee and traversed down to Marul, Großes Walsertal.
