Join me for a walk through Monti, one of Rome’s most historic and charming neighborhoods. Monti is known for its relaxed village atmosphere, where colorful alleys, Roman ruins, and everyday Roman life blend together. In this video, we’ll simply walk and enjoy the atmosphere without descriptions of the monuments. I’ll save those details for an upcoming walk, so stay tuned! Our walk begins on Via della Madonna dei Monti, a lively street lined with cafés and small boutiques. Nearby we pass the ancient Arco dei Pantani and the ruins of the Foro di Augusto, reminders of Rome’s imperial past. Continuing through the neighborhood, we pass the local Mercato Rionale Monti and the colorful La Casetta a Montibefore arriving at the beautiful Chiesa di Santa Maria ai Monti and the nearby Fontana dei Catecumeni. After crossing Via Cavour, we climb the Scalinata dei Borgia to reach the Basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli, home to Michelangelo’s famous sculpture, the Mosè di Michelangelo. We continue along Via del Boschetto before visiting several historic churches, including Basilica di Santa Pudenziana, the magnificent Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, and the Basilica di Santa Prassede which houses the the Colonna della Flagellazione. We finish with a relaxing stroll through Terme di Traiano Park before ending at the iconic Colosseum.
