Custom Push Stick From Tiger Maple and Morado I Frequently rip shorter lengths of wood in the 2 – 3 feet range, and I am always wanting a push stick that can apply more downward force on the end of wood that is farther from me. A longer push stick will really help with this. I also wanted a push stick that is wider then the standard ¾” size I see everywhere. When I try to apply forward downward force on a narrow push stick, it will sometimes wobble side to side, which isn’t safe. Finally, I wanted a catch or hook piece on the end that I can replace after it gets a bunch of cuts through it from going over the blade. This push stick met all of these requirements, and I got to build it out of one of my favorite exotics, Morado. Also called Bolivian Rosewood. It is a quick and easy project that only takes a couple of hours. You can of course, make this from any wood you like. Then we designed one for my daughter, Kavi. She is much shorter than me, and needed a push stick that allowed her a better reach to the end of the table saw. That one is included here too.
