Johanna Dumet is a French artist based in Berlin, who has gained a wide reach over the last few years, mostly known for her vivid colour palette and layering of paint, collage, and pattern that collapses the boundaries between fashion, still life, and abstraction. Her recent exhibition Fool for a Lifetime at König Galerie brought her firmly into our view, and we used that momentum of curiosity to spend time with her—two hours in her studio that became a 15-minute film. Together we traced her path as an artist, exploring what it means to build a career, sustain a practice and carve out your own space in the art world.
