What is the best mountain biking trail at Dalby Forest, North Yorkshire? (I'm sure everyone has their own opinion on this, but this is our favourite) What we wanted to do in this video is showcase what we think is the best mountain biking trail which is called 'Loose on Lewis''. This is in fact an off piste trail actually sitting just on the outskirts of Dalby forest. It's situated just above the village of Allerston on the A170 (Scarborough to Thirsk road). What3words.com has the start of the trail as: winded.cabbages.dance. Why do we love this trail? It's easy to access! You can park at Allerston village and bike to the trail start within 5-10 mins. The trail is quite flowy but it does have a lot of features to make everyone grin (Roots, berms, drops, jumps and other tech) nothing too difficult and steep (Like some OP trails can be) that an intermediate rider cannot handle. It's also quite long for an off piste trail around here. Approx 0.6 miles long with 280 ft elevation. It's a good diagonal run following the contour of the valley it's on, rather than pointing down & direct. On average it may take you 3 minutes to ride down it (Faster or slower depending on your ability). It's definitely long enough to give you arm/leg pump by the end! Its been so well built by whoever has done it and because it's been well ridden, it's well established and the trail route is clear. The climb back up to do it again is not long and its a rider friendly climb on tarmac, although a chest puffer all the same. If you want, you can continue biking further up the hill and find your way to other fantastic off piste trails such as Monster Munch and then into the heart of Dalby for even more. (Most people do this as part of their ride out). Theres a pub 30 seconds away! (When it's open). There's plenty of videos already out there on this trail, but we wanted to capture it from a slightly different perspective so we've tried to film it using different camera shots which will hopefully help you get a good insight into the various aspects of the trail. Hope you enjoy the video and if you have not ridden it yet, it's a must for your bucket list and as Ant & Dec would say, "Get it in ya bag!!"
