Taylor University is located in Upland, Indiana - about 45 minutes south/southwest of Fort Wayne. The Friday home basketball game right before finals every December was one of the quietest nights of the year in the arena. Starting in 1997, students began wearing pajamas to the game and remained silent until the 10th point was scored by the Taylor Trojans. The newly dubbed "Silent Night Game" grew in popularity (mostly in obscurity). Other features were added like rushing the court after the 10th point, students dressing in costumes instead of pajamas, and the singing of "Silent Night" with two minutes remaining in the game. In 2010, sports outlets like ESPN and Sports Illustrated began featuring highlights of the event and social media took it to a new level. The games are now instant sellouts, students now camp outside the week prior to the game for good seats, and student groups/dormitories not only stress out over finals but what costumes to make or buy for the game. Taylor's record at the "Silent Night" game is a remarkable 26-1 (including this 107-59 win over Moody Bible College).
