Emre Üşenmez explores how crude oil prices are established while emphasising on the role pricing agencies play in this process. Reactions to the pricing scandals such as proposed EU regulations and internal process changes are discussed. With a strong research background in Petroleum, Energy Economics and Finance as well as Oil and Gas Law the speaker then elaborates on his proposal of "doing nothing" to fix the price manipulations. He is a co-editor of the book Oil and Gas Law: Current Issues and Emerging Trends and a board member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers Aberdeen Section. Previously, Emre worked in the natural resources sector in Azerbaijan with Caspian Alliance International Ltd. He holds an LLM in Oil and Gas Law and an MSc in Petroleum, Energy Economics and Finance from the University of Aberdeen, as well as a BSc in Economics and a BA in Political Science from the North Carolina State University.
