Kosmic's sub 5 tutorial: • Speedrun Tutorial: How to Beat Super Mario... 1-1: Run through the level and go down the first enterable pipe. In the underground section, you're aiming to get 380 on the timer. If you get 380, you will save the framerule. The way to get this is to start holding right about halfway when you fall down and try to land on the platform a quickly as possible. This is so you get running speed quicker and it's easier to get 380. 1-2: Pretty simple level. There are one or two percise jumps. You can slow down a decent amount and still keep the framerule so do that if you want to be safe. 4-1: Super easy and simple. The only thing is that the jumps over the plants have a 10 frame window if you do a full jump so it's pretty easy. 4-2: The wrong warp. To make this as simple as possible, you basically need to do 3 backwards bumps into objects to get Mario further right on the screen. After this, when you go down the pipe after coming to a complete stop, you go to the warp zone and not the coin cash. 8-1: This level is the main reason I made this video. Normally you have to do 4 or so percise jumps in this level. This strat eliminates 3 of those jumps and it loses only 2 framerules over optimal. Just do the jumps exactly like I do them in 8-1. Make sure to pay attention to my input display as well! 8-2: The opening staircase looks hard but it's super easy to master. Just land on the step I do and do a full jump onto the other step and then jump off. You'll never hit the koopas! There's a part in this level where you need to slow slightly down to clear a plant in a pipe. Try to land as early as possible and tap left slightly. Again, watch my input display to know what to do. After that, you want to tap left again to get under the first koopa. Finally, at the very end of the level there is a koopa bouncing off the stairs. Run off the last bullet bill lancher and after you land on the ground, do a full jump. You should either land on the koopa and bounce off of him, or miss him and land on the stairs. Either way, just jump on the stair you land on and finish the level. 8-3: If you get to 8-3 on the same framerule every time, the hammer bros will do the same thing every time! This makes them very predictable. If you are on an unfamillar framerule, just jump over them and if they jump, let go of the a button and you'll kill them 95% of the time. Also slow down at the end to avoid getting fireworks. Look at the strat I do on the ending stairs to see how I slow down. 8-4: In the second room, do the 2 frame walljump setup. You walk off the beginning pipe and then press the b button before you land. You should then have 2 frames to do walljump. In room 3, don't rush the turnaround room. You should have lots of time to get sub 5 still. In the water room, my biggest piece of advice is to not hold right while swimming. If you touch the ground while holding right, it loses a couple of frames. Thanks so much for watching!
