Here, I'm stringing a pair of Tecnifibre ATP T-Fight 295 XTC frames using the Short Side ATW pattern. On this FIRST racquet, I demonstrate how to execute the Short Side ATW the way it was ORIGINALLY written up by John Gugel. Although this method eliminates ALL blocked holes, it does require a VERY long section of string to be used for your Short Side (and a much longer TOTAL length of string as well). This fact isn't a huge issue if/when you are using individual sets/packs of string, but is something to keep in mind if you cut your string from reels. John's original procedure still has some merit - especially if you want to avoid ALL blocked holes on frames that have only "single skips" (i.e. 8H & 8T), as opposed to frames which have "double skips" (i.e. 7H,9H & 7T,9T) like these Tecnifibre T-Fights have. On the SECOND racquet (separate video), I demonstrate my adaptation for the Short Side ATW. This method requires much less string (roughly 3 feet) to be used than the original procedure. This fact may be important to those who are cutting string from reels, rather than using individual sets. In addition to using a shorter length overall, it also uses a shorter length for the actual Short Side itself. This, in turn, has the added benefit of pulling MUCH less string through (just a few INCHES, rather than a few FEET) near the very end of the stringing procedure. Note: In order to implement my adaptation, you will need a 2nd starting clamp for bridging to your tensioner. I wanted to show BOTH methods, back to back, so that other stringers can see the pros/cons of implementing each method. If you want to better understand how to choose one ATW pattern over another, see my video entitled "How to select an appropriate Around The World pattern".
