A unique set of architectural drawings survives engraved on the rocks surrounding the unfinished 11th-century temple at Bhojpur. They hold the key to the temple’s intended design, and show that it would have been by far the biggest Hindu temple in the world. The story told in this video can be read detail in my book Theory and Practice of Temple Architecture in Medieval India: The Samarāṅgaṇasūtradhāra and the Bhojpur Line Drawings (New Delhi: Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts with Dev Publications, 2015).
