Kathryn Schroeder is a Branch Davidian survivor. In Part 5, she describes that after the chapel was built, Kathy was still living in a separate house. During a Bible study, David Koresh’s oldest son Cyrus came in and said that Kathy’s house was on fire. Kathy ran inside and got her children out. At Mount Carmel in the large building they had no running water. Kathy was homeschooling her children. Each mother homeschooled her children. She describes the importance of David Koresh’s Bible studies to his students. She describes David Koresh’s manner of teaching. A Bible study could end with David jamming with his band members, or he would take one of his wives back to his room, or he would show a movie. In 1992 they knew it would be their last year before the predicted assaults against the community. Summer 1992 was spent riding go-carts, swimming, having fun. The lessons from David Koresh were the “icing on the cake,” the chance to learn some more. David Koresh would relate passages in one book of the Bible to other books in the Bible to construct a theology and prophecies about events to come. Deciphering the Bible’s prophecies was exciting. People asked questions, and Koresh would answer. She comments that the Bible study shown in the Australian A Current Affair footage was staged and simplified for the camera. Bible studies included periods of fun, including watching movies. David might sit on a chair telling a story while a kid sat on the arm of the chair.
