Melody and chords written in the mid nineties when I was in 8th grade. It was the "afterbirth" of a class assignment where we were told to bring a family photo to school so another classmate could write a story about it. I was quick and picked the photo of the red-haired girl that I had a massive crush on. Can't remember what I wrote about the photo itself - or who wrote about my photo. It wasn't important. The song was, for me at least. At the time I though it was brilliant. It was one of the best songs I'd written at the time. I am clad I can't remember the lyrics though. They were cringe-worthy. I was 14 or 15 at the time. As I recall we only played it once. It was the summer og '96, the band was called Dishcloth and would become Low Down Deeper later that year. Then, nothing. I went to high school and forgot almost everything about the red-haired girl. There was another girl. There were several, mind you! For some reason I wrote danish lyrics to the songs. They were a little better than the original, but very much of in the tried and true tradition of "sad teenager". For some reason of another I pursuaded my girl (she still is!) to sing this song with me on a four track recorder. Just her voice and my guitar. It was the early 2000s - the makeshift studio was a basement in Kollemorten, Denmark of course! 25 years or so passed. I discovered Suno. It was fun, but also felt like "cheating". I was not that interested in having fairly little input in my creations - songwriting has been my biggest passion forever by this point. But when I learned about the possibilty of doing "cover versions" on Suno I had to try. I eagerly fed it old demos and live recordings. That was fun! Not as much fun as being in the studio, but lack of time and money doesn't permit me doing all the stuff I want to. Far from it. I also rediscovered this song. I fed it to Suno and wrote the kind of lyrics 30 years of hindsight allowed me to. The result is far from perfect, but then again what is? I do admit to being moved listening back to this. Maybe you will be too. 30 years in the making. Crazy. Bless the golden teardrop dice that we missed Near a root we couldn't see
