(5 Oct 2000) Arabic/Nat XFA Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah has urged Palestinians to use any weapons at hand to kill Israelis during the clashes in Jerusalem, Gaza and the West Bank. Speaking at a rally in Sfeir, in southern Beirut, Nasrallah said it was time to move away from stone-throwing and into what he called the "real phase of the Jihad" - or Holy War. He called on the Palestinian protestors to save whatever bullets they had for firing at Israeli soldiers and settlers, saying it was unfair that it was mostly Palestinians who were being killed. He also called on religious leaders in the Arab and the Islamic worlds to issue a fatwa - or religious edict - for an armed struggle. The rally was attended by thousands of Hezbollah supporters and by representatives from Palestinian factions in Lebanon, as well as Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the occupied Palestine. SOUNDBITE: (Arabic) "We warn of a political massacre that's being cooked at this moment (meeting of Albright, Barak and Arafat). They are preparing and negotiating for a political massacre in which they are plotting against Jerusalem and against the Palestinians."
