Kingswear - its all rather sad?

The infilling of houses, the second homes, the lack of children...? Kingswear is not the village it once was with a thriving school, well attended church and Sunday School, Sea Scouts, Guides, Brownies, Cubs... Its just a shame and for someone born and bred in the village who occasionally returns....its rather sad. For people who spend their time in their second / retirement homes though, they can enjoy a "Grandstand Stadium" view over the river to Dartmouth. I will always have an affection for the place - I had an amazing childhood there, like my father before me, but can't help wondering what occupies the kids today (if there are any). We used to play in the copse (now I think called Kingswear Wood on Higher Contour Road), the woodland between Hoodown Lane and "the Golf Club" - I'm sure nobody even knows where that is now? Also crabbing and fishing "up the line" and of course summers spent at Lighthouse Beach...closed illegally and even though it should now be open again, I have not heard that it is? Maybe I am a grumpy old fart that can't abide change.....but Christ....look what they have done ramming residences in where you'd have thought none would fit. Poor old Kingswear. 🥲 ‪@RobLittleuk‬
