It is believed that if you touch the ropes of this chariot or listen to the wooden wheels turning, you will be liberated from the cycle of life and attain moksha (salvation). This massive chariot belongs to Lord Jagannath, and once a year, he steps out of the temple to meet the people. When thousands of people pull Lord Jagannath's chariot, nobody can stop it except for Lord Jagannath himself. But once, the chariot came to a halt, and despite everyone's efforts and even calling elephants to pull it, the chariot didn't move even a centimeter because Lord Jagannath was waiting for a devotee named Salbeg. Salbeg was the son of a Mughal subedar named Lalbeg and a Hindu woman who was kidnapped by Lalbeg from Dandamukundapur in Odisha. Being the son of a subedar, Salbeg went to war and got severely injured, unable to walk again. His mother advised him to pray to Lord Jagannath, and miraculously, Salbeg recovered completely within a few days. Salbeg then visited Jagannath Puri to have the darshan (sight) of Lord Jagannath, but due to the temple rules, he was not allowed inside and was told to wait for the Rath Yatra, during which Lord Jagannath comes out of the temple to give darshan to everyone. There was ample amount of time left for the rath yatra, Salbeg left for Vrindavan, and while returning, he fell ill. By that time the preperation for rath yatra had already begun . Salbeg prayed to the Lord to wait for his arrival, and miraculously, the chariot came to a stop, the daily rituals of lord was performed outside the temple for 7 days. Lord Jagannath appeared in the dream of the temple priest and assured him not to worry because he was waiting for his devotee salbeg to arrive. Eventually, when Salbeg reached Puri and had the darshan of Lord Jagannath, the chariot started moving forward again. Salbeg spent the rest of his life in Puri, devoted to Lord Jagannath. Even today, devotees visit the Samadhi (final resting place) of Salbeg and sing the bhajans (devotional songs) written by him. Lord Krishna is not called Bhaktvatsal (lover of devotees) without reason. Jai Jagannath ⭕❗⭕ Jai Shri Rama! 🚩
