WHITEFISH TRAIL - Mountain Bike Trail Ride!

Today we're on the Whitefish Trail for a mountain bike trail ride! You know you're in the mountains when you see Bear Grass & views like this. When in town, you know what the locals hold important when you see cool signs like this at the local bike shop and a whiteboard of current trail conditions. While in Whitefish, I rode several trails, but today, I rode a section of the Whitefish Trail. #beginnermountainbiking #mountainbiketrailrides #mtbradley To get to this point in the ride, I've ridden from the Reservoir Trailhead just north of town, up to Whitefish Mountain Resort. A climb of somewhere around 2200' and a bit over 8 miles. Once I got to the resort, I stopped off for a quick break to grab a snack and use the bathroom. After my break, I headed over to a trail called Rush and began my descent to the Reservoir Trailhead. I connected a few trails together to get back to the Whitefish Trail. As you'll see in this video, it was an amazing ride back down. The ride down was largely singletrack with trail features like jumps, berms, switchbacks, off cambered turns, rocks and roots. While you enjoy the ride, I'll tell you a little about this cool trail. The Whitefish trail system provides some of the best mountain biking in the Whitefish, MT area. I rode this trail in July of 2020. At the time of this video, the Whitefish Trail consisted of 12 trailheads and 42+ miles of natural surface trail comprised of stacked loops, scenic overlooks, single‐track trails, and gated logging roads. There are xc and DH options. Spencer Mountain has jumps, berms, drops & wooden features. I didn't have my GoPro with me for this trail, but there is something for everyone. This community driven and donor supported project is a collaboration between Whitefish Legacy Partners, the City of Whitefish, the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, US Forest Service, Montana State Parks and many local private conservation and recreation champions. The section of the Whitefish Trail you see here is labeled the Reservoir Trail on Trailforks. I rode from the Reservoir Trailhead up to Whitefish Mountain Resort and came back down, but a popular option is to shuttle you and your bikes up to Big Mountain Trailhead and ride downhill back to the Reservoir Trailhead. There are a few climbs along the way, but it's a fun ride down. Over the summer, I was fortunate enough to be able to take a road trip to Montana for some mountain biking. I visited a number of places across the state, rode just under 200 miles and climbed more elevation than Mt. Everest is tall. At the end of my trip, I felt strong. Well, at least as strong as someone in their 40's can feel. I'm back to work and riding less, but I guess that's how life goes sometimes.
