Welcome to Zillie's World: Melbourne Zoo's Cassowary

Melbourne Zoo's Bird Keeper, Ryan, is here to teach us all things Cassowary! Come behind-the-scenes as Keeper Ryan prepares Zillie's food using a new enrichment feeding device. This feeding device provides a different lunch time experience than usual, as it suspends her meal high above the ground. Keeper Ryan takes us into the Cassowary kitchen, were all of Zillie's food is waiting to be prepared. On the menu for lunch is a fruit salad, consisting of Kiwi Fruit, apples and tomatoes. A cassowaries lunch is really important for the rainforest, as they digest and pass seeds, spreading the seeds throughout the rainforest floor - they can be known as the rainforest's gardeners!
