Backpacking the Kalalau Trail on Kauai was amazing! The trail spans over 11 miles one way along the rugged Na Pali Coast. This adventure offers stunning views of lush valleys, towering cliffs, pristine beaches, and many waterfalls. We did this hike in two days, the first day we hiked to Kalalau Beach, stoping at Hanakoa Falls along the way. The second day, I did a quick hike up Kalalau Valley to another waterfall, and then we hiked back out, stopping at Hanakapiai Falls on the way. Both Hānakoa Falls and Hanakāpīʻai falls were amazing. They are massive tiered waterfalls with around 300 feet visible from the base. You can see the upper portions of Hānakoa falls from further away and it's probably close to 1,000 feet in total. It rained on and off most of the first day, so when we got to Kalalau Beach and had clear skies, we were very happy. There is a beautiful waterfall on the south side of the beach that we were able to filter water from. The rain made for slick and muddy trails, so we were glad we had our super grippy trail runners.
