How to Configure SQL Server Management Studio SSMS Setup. SSMS Configuration. SSMS Settings. So you have Microsoft SQL Server (SSMS) installed, but... 1. Has the configuration been optimized? 2. Do you have line numbers on the editor sheet? 3. Are the tab names simple and compact? 4. Are spaces being used in place of tabs to prevent jagged alignment when moving SQL files between systems and applications? 5. Is your local IDE set to deadlock priority low to minimize risk? Watch this video to learn how. Corrections/Suggestions: Regarding the last tip: don't alter the Deadlock Priority if you run UPDATEs, INSERTs, or DELETEs. Setting this to Low is meant for lower priority users running SELECTs only so that they never interfere with higher priority users. If you pin all the SQL tabs, you can have multiple rows visible and not need to scroll to the left or right (thank you Kyle Pierce) ------ Chapter Timestamps (click to jump forward): ---------------------------- 0:00 - Intro 0:09 - What is SSMS? 0:57 - Connection: Red Color for Prod Environment 2:53 - Options: Editor Sheet - Line Numbers 3:58 - Options: Editor Sheet - Simplify Tab Name 5:45 - Options: Editor Sheet - Spaces Not Tabs 8:42 - Options: Set Deadlock Priority = Low 9:50 - The End Watch related playlist videos: • Microsoft SQL Server Quick Trainers (QT1) Connect with me on social media: LinkedIn: / mpiercead576 YouTube: / @dataresearchlabs GitHub: https://github.com/DataResearchLabs Subscribe to my YouTube Channel: / @dataresearchlabs Background Music: "Amplified" by Microsoft Photos / Media Editor #MSSQL #SQLServer #SSMS #SSMSTips
