A very successful dam ride after the anticlimax of my previous ride. A few minutes out of Shannon is the Mangahao power scheme. It has been operating for 100 years. So I thought it was a good idea to visit and say happy birthday. The roads are very narrow a twisty. Be on the look out for other vehicles. It's a good little ride. It was too windy for me to get the drone up at the first 2 dams. The wind was a little bit better at the top damn, but the drone still struggled and kept telling me to stop playing silly-buggers and land the thing. There is a campsite above the Arapeti dam. This appears to be only for campervans and motor-homes. Not for motorcycles and tents.
