1st visit to Egham station in Surrey on the Waterloo to Reading Line Featuring services from South Western Railway and some extra trains to and from Reading due to the rugby going on at Twickenham that day. Egham station being 21 miles from Central London first opened in 1856 and it's not far from the nearby Royal Holloway, University of London Also to the East in the London bound direction the line passes under the M25 Motorway The present station building was built by British Rail and opened in 1985 Today's services are mostly half hourly to and from Reading via Richmond and Weybridge via Brentford although on peak times for Reading services and as well as Rugby days at Twickenham can be increased to 1 train every 15 minutes Present services are served mainly by Class 450s and Class 458s with most 450 sets being repainted into the SWR livery whilst the Class 458s at the time of filming were in the process of undergoing major overhauls for use for SWML services to Bournemouth and Portsmouth which will result them revert back to the 4 car formation which have been 5 cars since 2013 and will be re-geared from 75mph to 100mph with the work being carried out at Longsight Depot near Widnes. The trains that are supposed to take over Reading, Weybridge and other Suburban routes on SWR are the Class 701s being built by since January 2021 Alstom however ongoing problems, incapatbiblilty with signalling meant that there are still not confirmed dates when the new trains will enter service although in recent weeks some were being stored at Long Marston.
