There is no fossil formation on the planet quite as memorable as the Hell Creek Formation, stretching across rocks that make up parts of modern day Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. At the same time, and in the same place, as the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex, walked Triceratops, perhaps the most famous of all the ornithischian dinosaurs. This huge tank of an animal, equipped with the instantly recognisable horns that provide its name, lived in large numbers along the floodplains and in the woodlands that composed Hell Creek, over sixty six million years ago. In today's video, we will be meeting this dinosaur up close, examining what it looked like, where it lived, how it survived, and how it was eventually discovered.
