VIP Promotions in association with Trinity Entertainment present Professional Boxing Saturday 6th July 2024 Liverpool Grand Central Hall SEAN ARKWRIGHT Sean Arkwright may have had two years out of the ring, but with two fights in four weeks, the Scouse southpaw is making up for lost time. Sean took care of a tricky opponent in Tom Ramsden at the Liverpool Grand Central Hall, collecting all the points in front of a huge home crowd! Having shaken off any ring rust, Arkwright is now gearing up for his first six-round match against the formidable journeyman Jake Bray at the Dome next weekend. To prepare for his fifth professional fight, he has been training with fellow VIP fighters Jake Barton and Alex Pattison. MATHEW RENNIE Mathew Rennie undeservedly went under the radar in the early part of his professional career, but after taking the scalp of a fellow VIP fighter and going on to pick up his first stoppage, there is a real buzz around the Isle of Man-born fighter. Mathew is preparing for his first campaign under his new coach Terry Spencer, in the hope that after a ‘gelling fight’ and a good performance on July 6th he can move on to the next level. Not overlooking his next opponent, Rennie will be “hunting down titles and opportunities on the big stage,” thriving off being the underdog when entering the squared circle. JAKE HARRISON Jake Harrison is back, aiming to resume his winning streak and pursue more titles. Despite never being knocked down in his amateur or professional career, Jake experienced his first defeat and stoppage while defending his Central Area Super Bantamweight title against Logan Richardson. However, this setback has not discouraged him. Jake expressed, “As soon as I was out, I wanted to be straight back in there, putting things right.” If anything, he appears more composed and determined than ever, eager to put on a solid six-round performance at Grand Central Hall. CASEY BROWN He might have taken a 16-month hiatus from boxing, but with a new baby daughter, a wife-to-be, and a new home, Casey Brown has certainly been keeping busy! But Brown has regained the itchy knuckles and will be making his Liverpool Grand Central Hall debut on July 6th. Unfazed by the southpaw setbacks on his record, Casey is embracing the challenge of throwing himself back into the squared circle with another of those challenges; this time, he will face Nathan Darby. Brown is confident that the hard work and extra time working in the gym will make all the difference and will shine through on Saturday night. SAHIR IQBAL Sahir Iqbal started his professional career in perfect form, going on to pick up the WBC World Youth Welterweight title in just his eighth fight. However, his path took an unexpected turn when he faced a TKO defeat in March last year. Despite a pause in competition, Sahir has diligently trained in the gym under the guidance of coach Anthony Crolla, who holds great hopes for this former elite amateur boxer. Iqbal is already on the hunt for his next opponent, intent on getting back to winning ways and onto the big stage before the year is out! ELLIS GRANT Former national amateur champion Ellis Grant may have had 16 months out of the ring before he made his professional debut in February this year, but that has not stopped him from making an explosive start to his senior career. On 6th July, Grant will take on opponent number 3 at Liverpool’s Grand Central Hall. The Liverpool fighter has been banking the sparring rounds with fellow VIP boxer, Mathew Rennie. When asked whether he knew much about his upcoming opposition, Ellis told us, “I’ve watched a few of his fights...he’s got no chance!” and is expecting himself to put in a dominant performance. LEWIS MULLINEUX Trinity Entertainment's Lewis Mullineux is gearing up for his second professional fight, aiming to build on the flawless points victory he achieved earlier this year. Reflecting on his previous match, he admitted his only mistake was starting the ring walk too early. Ensuring impeccable timing both in and out of the ring, he caught up with former British and Commonwealth champion Sam Maxwell for some advice. Mullineux says he’s feeling great after an intensive eight-week training camp, packing in rounds of sparring with top-notch opponents.
