Gameplay of Custom Hydra Splatling on splat zones. It's been quite recent since I've last play Hydra Splatling, especially with the Torrentz kit. So I want to give the Custom kit another shot. Thanks to @halloweenpeachy for requesting this weapon. Hydra Splatling is a long range weapon that does good damage, insane DPS, good paint output, slow mobility, and slow charge time. The kit is pretty decent. Ink mines is a sub weapon that are place on your ink and stays hidden from enemy's view. The mine will stay hidden until an enemy is near it's activation area. And once activated, it will explode, dealing damage and marking enemy's position. And splattercolor screen is a special weapon that allow you to throw a bottle that deploy a huge bubbly wall that's a bit transparent, block a bit of view, and slightly move forward. When opponent get hit by the screen, the opponent's POV would get grayscales, take some damage, and will hear a bit of a fizzing sound. Now let's talk about the strength and weakness of this weapon and it's kit. The weapon can deal massive damage and control the area from a safe distance when fully charged. And the paint output is still good to cover more area and to build up for your special. Ink Ink mine can help you control your area if place in good placements. You can place up to two mine at the same time and the poke damage is good and combos well with the weapon and marking enemy's position can help you keep an eye on them. And splattercolor screen can help you block a path and slowly push up. You can help your teammate shark with the screen to slowly push, and you can punish opponent who might try to go around the screen. But the weapon takes a long time to fully charge up and the mobility is pretty slow. This can make it struggle to set up properly and can be vulnerable to surprise attack and displace sub or specials. And although the weapon has long range, weapons like Splat Charger, Snipewriter, or E-liter can still outrange it or kill it faster. The values of ink mines depends on where you place them. You can't throw the mines, so having control of the map and where you place them is very important to getting value with the mine. The mines can be easily activated if enemies paint over the mines and although the mine deal good poke damage, it still may not be enough to stop an enemy approach. And splattercolor screen isn't going to immediately displace opponents. Enemies can still see through some parts of the screen and they can shoot through the screen. And although the screen does have good poke damage and grayscales the enemies POV, enemy can parry through the damage and some might not care about the screen's effects. So when playing Custom Hydra Splatling, you want to focus on applying pressure from a safe distance and build up your special. Try to have your attack fully charged and punish opponents who are in the open. As you claim more area of the map, try to push with your team by using cover to protect yourself from enemy fire. Place down ink mine in areas that enemies might approach you from and once you have your special, throw it in the path that you plan on pushing or path you want to block. Your team can utilizes the screen to slowly push up while you can punish those who go around the screen. Just remember to not overextend too much and maintain your ink output.
