The worst car accident we’ve covered — and an even worse response from one of the drivers involved. Officers with the Martin County Sheriff's Office were concluding a DUI arrest when a high speed car accident happened nearby, causing one vehicle to go up in flames. The officers were first on scene and the Martin County Fire Department arrived shortly after. They immediately began treating the patients that were most injured while others worked to extinguish the flames. During the interaction, an impatient motorist can be seen driving over a charged fire hose. This is not only illegal, but it puts firefighters and citizens at risk as it increases the likelihood the hose will rupture, losing the water pressure needed to extinguish a fire. 316.2034 Crossing fire hose. —No vehicle shall be driven over any unprotected hose of a fire department when laid down on any street or highway, or private road or driveway, to be used at any fire or alarm of fire, without the consent of the fire department official in command. At least one passenger was several injured as a result. We typically do police arrest videos, but figured it would be good to show the other side of what law enforcement officers do on a day-to-day basis.
