In 2024, 3.6 million people visited Lourdes last year alone to drink the water.  Over a million received mass at Medjugorje.  An estimated 20 million went to Guadalupe to hopefully see, pray to “Our Lady” and experience something of heaven.  Among the numbers were not only Catholics, but Protestants and even Muslims.    The Catholic theologian, Bernard of Clairvaux explains, “If you fear the Father, go to the Son, if you fear the son, go to the Mother.”  And so two billion people go to Mary on a daily basis to pray to her to intercede.    What has launched Mary into such a central position in Catholic theology?
