Buy exclusively on Traxsource: http://bit.ly/2q4i8tN A mini mix of the 4 tracks from 'The Journey' EP for Brick Lane Radio. East Recordings label boss Pablo del Monte’s big summer hit last year was ‘House to House’ which, after being picked up on by Marco Carola, spent months in the charts. Pablo’s big one for this summer is ‘The Journey’ EP - a 4-tracker for proper house music lovers. The lead track is driven by a galloping rhythm and a simple but effective 3 note bassline, some sweet deep house chords and a repeated vocal line telling us to "get down, get get down”…an appropriate lyric for a track that is sure to be big in Ibiza this season. The remix comes from Leeds-based duo Blandy & Soul Cat, who also remixed ‘House to House’. The guys take ‘The Journey’ down the tech-house route with stripped-backed beats and huge stabs sure to test the bass bins of even the best club systems, and have re-programmed the vocal line into a new melody with vocal chops. Ian Bland has been in this game for years through his early rave days with Dream Frequency and up ’til now with his on-point tech-house label Maison Records. Whilst Eddie Armani (aka Soul Cat) is a relative new-comer when the two produce together something special always happens. ‘Tonight’ returns the EP back to a deep house tip with its jackin’ beats and vocal featuring Angie Brown. Think Mr G’s ‘Precious Cargo’ and you’ve got the vibe. Finally, ‘My Skin’ is the deepest cut on the EP. It’s the sort of stripped back house track one might find on a Rekids release where nothing seems to be happening but sounds are continuously modulating in the background, a tune that threads the line between deep house and techno. The low end groove drives the track forward but without a discernible bassline and things build and build with trippy percussion and a one note chord until the mid-point of the record when the tension is released temporarily by the entry of a spoken-word vocal line only to return to more psychedelic sounds in the outro. So four quality tracks to choose from from a well-balanced EP and with the two versions of the lead track ‘The Journey’ clearly destined for the charts. For fans of deep house, proper house and tech-house.
