On March 27, 2014 former CIA Director James R. Schlesinger died in Baltimore due to complications of pneumonia. In 1973, Schlesinger became the Director of Central Intelligence after Richard Helms, the incumbent, was fired for refusing to obstruct the Watergate investigation. His tenure at CIA lasted only six months, but in that time Schlesinger became one of, if not the, most hated directors in the history of the Agency. Although he had no previous experience in intelligence, Schlesinger oversaw comprehensive -- and controversial -- organizational and personnel changes. Historian and Assistant Professor in US National Security at Warwick University (UK) Dr. Christopher Moran provides keen insight into the life of this complicated man. This event took place April 4, 2014.
