Another California Zephyr video collection here for you all! This video here shows a few phone shots I got on Amtrak's California Zephyr throughout September and October of this year, with more videography from the Sierra Foothills. Newcastle was another welcomed addition to my observations, and some nice K5LA's were featured along with AMTK 164 and 204. I also included a few extra shots of a freight train, a Union Pacific GEVO transporting another locomotive and coach from Siemens to CN for delivery to Canada, and a Capitol Corridor train in the mix. Hope y'all enjoy! Dates and Locations: 0:00 Colfax, California – September 14th, 2025 Colfax Railroad Days was taking place that weekend, and unfortunately the train traffic for freight was rather slow again like the last time I was here, but it was still decent to see the Zephyr and two freight trains (phone shot of a BNSF Manifest is featured). Would have been great to see a BNSF Intermodal running along the route since they opened a new facility in Salt Lake City. 44 was leading the Eastbound California Zephyr with a rather funky sound to its Raised Letter K5LA along with a beat-up looking 63 trailing behind, while 189 sported an elegant 90's Narrow Font horn travelling west with the current oldest P42DC active on the roster – Number 4. 63 would have got a lot of crazy attention had it been leading. 9:03 McClellan Industrial Park (North Highlands, California) – October 11th, 2025 It had been a while since I was able to join my CalRailfans friends for another successful day of trains, so there we were at McClellan when it hosted some very good freight traffic. Eastbound Train Number 6 here had shown 181 tooting another nice 90's K5LA, but 151 though... could have sounded a bit more cheerful or solid going Westbound. UP 8007 was also found this day leading the fourth EC-42 Charger for EXO, locomotive 1403 out of the Siemens facility and a blank coach, which I was not so sure if it was for VIA Rail, Ontario Northland or another route. 10:45 Newcastle, California – October 19th, 2025 Decided to see what this place was like for another area in the Sierra Foothills, and the scenery didn't seem to disappoint as much although the freight traffic could have been a bit more frequent. It was a Sunday though, so it's little to no surprise there wouldn't be as much freight on some routes. AMTK 204 in the Phase VII paint made an appearance behind locomotive 25 going Eastbound, while 147 had a lovely sounding 2000's Narrow Font K5LA travelling to Emeryville. There was also a historic event happening on Main Street, so it was a bit loud. However, before Train Number 6 came, some child was walking on the track and placing a bottle cap and bolt to see if the train would flatten it and luckily that did not happen. The mother of the family was so stupid that she rudely flipped me off as the family was driving out. And to that mother, if you are watching this, you should be ashamed of yourself for placing your family in danger and you had absolutely no right to do that. 12:17 Davis, California – October 19th, 2025 (Pardon the typo for the train number.) Hoping that freight action would pick up a bit, and seeing as it did not, we decided to chase 147 to Davis station and I was surprised that it appeared a bit sooner than I thought given how early the status of the train had been, and I sorta did not pay attention in advance. The conductor of this train had a talk with me and they said they were movin' down the hill. CDTX 2123 is even found here with 2 extra coaches on Capitol Corridor 743 for another 49ers game at the Levi Stadium. They were playing against the Atlanta Falcons. 14:58 Berkeley, California – October 26th, 2025 Man, was the weather not so good this day. During that weekend, I mainly wanted to try to see how much shots I could get of the San Joaquins name on Amtrak California thanks to the California Department of Transportation and SJJPA doing more nonsense to butcher up Amtrak travel and not properly improve service, but we did go back to Berkeley for a few more trains after 714. We were going to try to see this one in Hercules, but following its early status and a fire along Altamont Pass causing bad traffic, we detoured to Berkeley and found Phase IV P42DC 164 trailing behind engine 199 though it was not what I was mostly going for. The K5LA on 199 did not sound very happy to say the least, but I did see another railfan there who was at the station since 9 AM. Thanks for watching!
