Competition on digital distribution platforms is fiercer than ever, while production and marketing costs continue to skyrocket, meanwhile mass layoffs, studio closures, and cancelled projects have become a daily reality. Poland and other Central and Eastern European countries face a particular challenge: until recently, their industries competed globally while benefiting from comparatively lower domestic labor costs.
