However, five decades later, bonded labour continues to exist in hidden and informal sectors such as brick kilns, factories, fisheries, and agriculture. This video brings forward three real-life survivor stories—from a brick kiln in Karnataka, a plastic factory in Bengaluru, and a riverbank fishing village in Telangana—to expose the ground reality of bonded labour in modern India. Through the lives of Ranjita, Govind, and Lingamma, the video examines: How poverty, debt, migration, and caste hierarchies sustain bonded labour Why laws alone are insufficient without strong enforcement and rehabilitation The role of middlemen, contractors, and informal labour markets State mechanisms for rescue, release certificates, and rehabilitation Survivors transforming into agents of social change—paralegals, activists, and elected representatives 🧠 UPSC SYLLABUS LINKAGE GS Paper I Social issues: Bonded labour, caste-based exploitation Vulnerable sections: Women, children, tribal communities Poverty, migration, and informal labour GS Paper II Government policies and interventions Role of state governments and district administration Implementation challenges of welfare legislations Human rights and constitutional values GS Paper III Inclusive growth and labour reforms Informal sector issues Human trafficking and forced labour Social justice in economic development Essay Paper “Law without implementation is injustice” “Economic growth without dignity is hollow” ⚖️ KEY CONSTITUTIONAL & LEGAL DIMENSIONS Article 21 – Right to life with dignity Article 23 – Prohibition of trafficking and forced labour Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976 Revised Central Sector Scheme for Rehabilitation of Bonded Labourers (2016) BondedLabour #BondedLabourInIndia #BondedLabourAbolitionAct #ForcedLabour #HumanRights #SocialJustice #ModernSlavery #UPSC #UPSC2026 #UPSCMains #CurrentAffairs #GS1 #GS2 #GS3 #IndianSociety #InclusiveGrowth #HumanDignity #Article23 #Article21 #EthicsUPSC #CaseStudyUPSC
