On Thursday (November 23, 2024), the counting for the by-polls to 15 Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala, and Uttarakhand and for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat began amid tight security. Congress-led UDF candidate Priyanka Gandhi Vadra led by 65,000 votes over her nearest rival, Sathyan Mokeri of the Left Front in the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll in Kerala on Saturday. Although eight seats fell vacant following the incumbent MLAs’ election to the Lok Sabha, polling in Sisamau is being conducted due to Samajwadi Party lawmaker Irfan Solanki’s disqualification from the assembly after his conviction in a criminal case.
