With more heavy rain on the way for much of Australia’s east coast adding to what is already a wet start to autumn, what does this mean for your garden? While some rain is great for growing plants, excessive rain can cause gardens with poor drainage to become waterlogged. The saturated soil leaves little to no space left for oxygen, drowning the roots of plants and starving them of nutrients. Restoring your soil back to good health can be a lengthy process so patience is key, along with plenty of organic matter and mulching with an organic mulch before wet seasons to protect the soil. Listen to this short clip to understand waterlogging and how you can best prepare for the wet days ahead. 🌿A biologically activated, nutrient rich, weed free, absorbent super mulch, Whoflungdung is composted, inoculated with eNcase and filled with nutrients, so that when added to soil it introduces a wide diversity of beneficial bacteria. These beneficial bacteria readily proliferate through the soil, acting as a barrier/deterrent to pathogenic bacteria, providing a safe environment for healthy plant growth. Most significantly, Whoflungdung reduces, if not eliminates, the nitrogen draw-down which is often reflected in plants after mulch has been applied. #neutrog #biologicalfertiliser #whoflungdung #soilhealth #rain #waterlogging #gardening #grahamross #thegardenclinic For more information about Neutrog products and projects you can visit our website at www.neutrog.com.au and subscribe to our free monthly newsletter.
