The interview focuses on the traditional processes of charcoal production, which consist of three main activities: mangrove preparation, charcoal production, and charcoal transportation. It includes the history of charcoal production in the area, including the first charcoal plant, which has been run by the interviewee’s family for over 80 years. Concerned about the sustainable way forward, the interviewee replants mangrove trees to compensate for what has been cut. This interview features Mr. Pariınya Daroonsri (นายปริญญา ดรุณศรี), a third-generation owner of a family-run charcoal plant.
