THE HUSBAND WHO GOT AWAY WITH MURDER - Michelle "Angie" Yarnell Case On November 1, 2003, Michael Yarnell showed up to his granddaughter's 5th birthday party with a chilling message: "She's gone now. Ran away with another man." But Michelle Angela "Angie" Yarnell—his wife—would NEVER abandon her family. Especially not her granddaughter Samantha's birthday party she'd promised to attend. Angie disappeared October 25, 2003. THE RED FLAGS: When Angie's mother Maryann visited the trailer a week after she vanished, she found new drywall screwed into the wall where Angie's poster-sized collage had hung. New linoleum on the floor beneath it. All of Angie's clothes, journals, and diaries—GONE. Police visited, spent 11 minutes, said "nothing out of the ordinary." THE OBEY TATTOO: Angie had "OBEY" tattooed on the back of her neck after marrying Michael at a courthouse wedding her family didn't know about. Only she had it—not Michael. She kept it hidden under her hair. THE FORGED POSTCARD: A postcard arrived claiming Angie ran away with a man named Gary to Texas. Forensic handwriting expert Peggy Walla proved Michael wrote it—not Angie. THE BIRTHDAY GIFT: On November 1st, Michael showed up with a gift for Samantha—a yellow flowered gift bag with a Barbie and scooter inside. The exact gift Angie had described buying for the party. The gift dead Angie bought, Michael pretended he bought. THE CONFESSION: Five years later (2008), Michael confessed to accidentally killing Angie during an argument on their back deck. Said she hit her head on a rock, died instantly. He put her body in a canoe, paddled 4 miles upstream in the dark, and left her in knee-deep mud on an island. Police searched—found nothing. The island owner visited daily with dogs and said he would've known if a body was there. THE PLEA DEAL TRAVESTY: Despite NO BODY and a ridiculous story, the DA gave Michael a deal: involuntary manslaughter, 7 years, served only 4 in minimum security. He's been free since 2012. THE SMOKING GUN: In court, Michael said unprompted: "I just want her mom to know there was NO BLOOD." If she died outside hitting her head on a rock like he claimed—there would've been MASSIVE blood. He told on himself. THE MEXICO CONNECTION: Photos found in Michael's camper show a dark-haired woman named Francesca in Mexico from the late 1980s. Michael's cousin said he went AWOL from the Navy, escaped to Mexico, spent time in Mexican prison, met Francesca—who also "ran away with another man" and was never seen again. Possible serial killer pattern. THE MOTHER'S SEARCH: Maryann has spent 23 years searching—crawling caves, digging on properties with a shovel in her trunk, trespassing to find her daughter. She writes letters to Angie in 25 spiral notebooks and buys Christmas and birthday gifts stored in her great-grandmother's trunk. Michelle "Angie" Yarnell has never been found. Michael Yarnell walks free. Justice failed. SHARE THIS STORY. Angie deserves to be found. #TrueCrime #UnsolvedMystery #MissingPerson #ColdCase #JusticeForAngie #MichelleYarnell
