Jesus Came for the Brokenhearted - December, 23 Update

As darkness continues to be exposed to the light, the hopeless condition of humanity is on display. Experiencing or seeing injustice & harm often causes you to feel angry. Even Jesus had & still has anger towards injustice. Anger is a sign that we are also grieving. Grief is not just an emotional cycle felt at death; it also occurs with extreme disappointment & hopelessness. God draws near the brokenhearted (Ps. 34:18), no matter what caused the grief or how we are handling it! He isn't afraid of our anger or our complex web of emotions. We will find many angry during the holiday season. Let's choose to see what Jesus sees... brokenhearted & grieving people that He came for. He is near the brokenhearted because He is our Immanuel, God with us! Isn’t the simplicity of the gospel amazing? Jesus came for the broken! Luke 4:18-19 is one of the first messages of Jesus & one of my favorites. Quoting Isaiah, He declares that He is the fulfillment of these words, "He has sent ME to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives & recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed..."
