St. Helena sits in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean, thousands of miles from anywhere. There are 4000 residents there. Every Holiday Season hundreds of Saint Helenians or “Saints” Make the journey back to the island to be with their families. Over the 3 or 4 weeks there is non stop parades, events, and parties. Arguably, the Festival of Lights is one of the biggest of these. The Streets of Jamestown are lit up with fairy lights, spotlights, decorations, as intricately designed and decorated floats make their way down the street. For many the ultimate destination is the Mule yard Bar, where the Big Easy are playing. The Big Easy have been playing for at least 30 years, and have been. Hallmark of the Saint Helena Music Scene the whole time. There have been a few line up changes since it’s conception, but some original members are still there today. One of the ofounding members in particular, Mr. Johnny Dillon (Bass) was an icon of the Saint Helena music scene, and had a hand in nurtuiring the talents of many an aspiring Saint musician through inclusivity and opportunity. Some of those young Saints play in the band today. I think their talent speaks for itself. Saint Helena although small, has a mighty force of musicians. The Big Easy is comprised of: Deon Yon - Guitar, Vocals Glenn Yon - Guitar, Vocals Merle Peters - Vocals Gareth Drabble - Guitar, Vocals Tom Wortley - Horns Nigel “Notchy” Joshua - Bass Guitar Andrew “Butterz” Yon - Drums _________________________________________ 00:24 - Sex on Fire 4:27 - Try 8:50 - Pumped up Kicks 13:54 - Seven Nation Army 18:36 - Valerie 22:53 - Master Blaster ____________________________ This video is part of a bigger series of videos of musicians on St. Helena.
