Written by Marshall Crenshaw. Produced by Richard Gottehrer and Marshall Crenshaw. From the Warners 1982 album, “Marshall Crenshaw”. Hailing from Detroit but growing up in Berkley, California, Marshall Crenshaw got his break in the music business playing John Lennon in the musical, “Beatlemania”. He formed a trio with brother, Robert and Chris Donato in New York and recorded "Something's Gonna Happen" for the late Alan Betrock’s Shake label. He signed to Warners and hit with the single, “Someday, Someway” (US #36) in 1982. The song had been a #76 US hit for Robert Gordon the previous year. (Robert Gordon also a released Marshall’s "Something's Gonna Happen" as a 45 on RCA.) “Marshall’s first album (self-titled) featured eleven songs written by him and a cover of Arthur Alexander’s “Soldier Of Love”. The album reached #50 on the US album chart. Another one of the great 80s’ productions from Richard Gottehrer, formerly one third of the Feldman-Gottehrer-Goldstein songwriting and production team. Other acts that Richard worked with in the 80s: the Bongos, Blondie, the Go-Go’s, Mental As Anything and Joan Armatrading.
