This is our most recent NASFLA Conversation with Drs. Silvia Pessoa, Maria Gomez-Laich, and Thomas Mitchell, facilitated by Dr. Andres Ramirez, on their recently published book: In an increasingly wider range of disciplines, college students are expected to write arguments throughout their undergraduate studies. While most instructors know good writing when they see it, they are not always able to articulate the finer details of how language is used to compose the strong arguments they expect from their students. In our recently published book, Analysis and Argument in First-Year Writing and Beyond, we provide a common language to talk about and teach argument writing. In this conversation, the team discusses the tools in their book and their current work building on these tools.
