IndustriALL has released a documentary film on the effect of the strike at the Grasberg mine on workers and their communities Thousands of workers at Freeport's Grasberg mine in Papua, Indonesia, have been without work since being fired for taking strike action in May 2017. Workers are paying the price in a dispute between the company and the Indonesian government over control of the world's largest gold mine. IndustriALL has made a documentary film about the effect of the strike on the workers and their families. Workers have lost income, access to health care and education, and in some cases housing. Recently one worker committed suicide after being denied healthcare. The National Commission on Human Rights in Indonesia found that the sacking of thousands of workers was a violation of human rights. It is calling for their reinstatement.
