A Forgotten Village by the Sea | Mamiya RZ67

I had been wanting to photograph this place for quite some time. Saint-Girons is in the southwest of France, a private residential area built right on the beach sand. In winter, hardly anyone lives there, and the wind and sea fill the houses with sand, making it look like an abandoned village. My plan was to go on a sunny day, but I arranged to go with Ibai and our Mamiya RZ67 cameras, and we ended up choosing the worst possible day. It was raining, the wind was terrible, and the sand was blowing aggressively. The wind was so strong that it knocked my Sony FX3 into the wet sand. I wanted to cry. But honestly, the bad weather gave the place an even more cinematic feel. We couldn’t photograph the entire area—only half of it—so we’ll definitely go back because it has some incredibly photogenic spots.
