I'm Cody Covington. I'm an orthopedic surgeon with Ortho San Antonio. I had a kidney injury that had sustained from when I was a child. It really was undiagnosed after birth, and ended up having to have multiple kidney surgeries from then, you know, going on the next 6 to 7 years, and eventually lost that kidney. But really kind of what hit home is the compassion and the knowledge and relationship I got to build with the surgeon that I went through all that with. And so to go through that at such a young age, and have someone who helped me through that, and experiencing that, that was really kind of monumental for me and helping kind of shape what I wanted to do. Whenever I see patients that need more time, I try not to cut corners and just rush people out of clinic, I really try to take the time that everybody needs because coming from somebody with no medical background, it's really hard to know what's right or wrong when you're at the doctor's office. And so really trying to be that kind of lifeline that someone can trust. I really try to approach what I do with integrity and not compromising any of my values, my value system, and my faith. I really have a heart for taking care of those who serve their community and public servants. Being that you know, my dad was a firefighter for SAFD for 30 plus years eventually, was a fire chief out in Schertz. My mom was a teacher for over 30 years. Looking back, I really looked up to them and carry that with me every day. Whenever I talk to my patients, I really want them to understand that I have their best interests at heart, that they have options, and that I'm really there for them to help them do whatever they want to do.
