The Dinnie Stones sit outside of the Potarch Café & Restaurant & create an extremely tough challenge. The two stones are different weights from one another, one weighing in at 144kg & the other 188kg for a total weight of 332kg. Each stone is fitted with a steal ring handle & must be lifted together to complete a successful lift, one stone in each hand. To complete a successful lift both stones must be suspended away from the ground while standing fully upright in a locked out position. The Dinnie Stones are named after Mr Donald Dinnie (Scotland's greatest all round athletic superstar), it is said he picked the two stones up & carried both of them together across the full width of the Potarch Bridge at over 17 feet. There are two different ways that you can lift the stones, either straddle them having one stone in front of you and one stone behind you, or to pick them up side by side like you would the Farmers Walk in a strongman competition. Witnessed by Brett Nicol, Jim & Rosemary Splain, Lydia Nicol & a large group of spectators.
