The following video features various news and talent opens from WXIN in Indianapolis from the run of its first news department from 1984 to 1985 and from the start of its second and current news department in 1991 to present. As mentioned above, this compilation covers both of the station's news departments; WXIN's first news operation was shut down in 1985, a year before what was then WPDS-TV became a Fox affiliate. Newscasts would not return to WXIN until 1991, with the debut of a 35-minute 10pm newscast. Former general manager Jerry Martin helped lay the groundwork for the newscast expansion that continues on channel 59 to this day: WXIN had a three-hour weekday morning, half-hour 11;30am (that particular newscast has since been cancelled) and hour-long nightly 10pm newscasts in 2007; since then, it has added hour-long newscasts at 4pm, 5pm and 6pm and for four hours on weekend mornings. By September 2014, WXIN added weeknight-only newscasts at 7pm and 11pm, increasing its local news output to about 65 hours a week, two hours more than that now produced each week by its Cleveland sister station WJW.
